Benchmark indices closed sharply higher on Tuesday with the Sensex gaining nearly 300 points as all sect-oral indices ended in the green despite mixed global cues. The fall crude oil prices and rupee appreciation also boosted sentiment. The 30-share BSE Sensex rose 297.38 points to 35,162.48 and the 50-share NSE Nifty gained 72.30 points at 10,584.80.
